 Program Description

This unique program offers students the opportunity to live and study in the heart of West Africa. Students may enrol in a traditional African studies program or choose from a wide array of courses taught in English. Courses include but are not limited to agriculture, dance, biochemistry, art, nursing, accounting, business management, political science, public administration, geography, human rights, science and social sciences.

 Admission Requirements

GPA requirement is 2.5 for the summer and 3.0 with a sophomore or junior standing for the semester.

 Fees include:

Fees include tuition and fees, orientation, most field trips, insurance and entry to some museums and cultural events. Summer fees include housing.

Additional fees include airfare (group discounts are available), housing, textbooks and field studies course. Contact USAC for more details.


 Student Life

USAC organizes several field trips to Lake Volta and the Cape Coast. Students can also take a field studies course that entails a trip to Kumasi, Mole National Park and Dramongo/Larabanga. Many students say that the field trips offer them a chance to see sights and go places that they wouldn't typically visit.

 Location & Housing

At the University of Ghana students will live in student residence halls or can choose the international student hostel that will attempt to pair them with a Ghanaian student.
