| Program Description |

The URI in England Program will be three weeks long and housed at the University of Bath. It will consist of classroom lectures and discussions, followed by tours to pertinent literary and historical sites in England. In 2005, literary emphasis will be on Goldsmith, Austen, Wordsworth, Hardy, Lawrence, Waugh, and Orwell. The history portion of the program will emphasize how the history of the English people has affected the appearance of the land, cities and villages, and how the present rural, urban and industrial landscape reveals the historical past and is reflected in literature.
